Dr. Muhammad Makki

Myne London has received support and accolade from Dr. Muhammad Makki – Assistant Professor, Centre for International Peace & Stability (CIPS), NUST Institute of Peace & Conflict Studies (NIPCONS), National University of Sciences & Technology (NUST).

In his 2017 report, Pakistan's Swat Valley Emeralds – Consigned to Oblivion, he explores the traumatic history of the mines but focuses on the life and hunger for attention the mines now crave. Makki recognises that the stunning ‘distinctive smoothness and transparency’ of the emeralds deserves to be acknowledged.

In specific reference to Myne London, Dr. Makki said;

“I truly believe that, establishing an export-led benefaction industry within Swat (much needed) will not only generate sustainable livelihoods (particularly for women as you have indicated), but will also help in preventing future conflicts through fostering economic resilience.”
